Always fancied a go at Raku firing? In this 3 hour session you will glaze and fire a couple of pots of your choice and then be able to take them home with you at the end of the session.

We will supply a selection of biscuit fired pots for you to choose from, then you will glaze them with our special Raku glazes. The pots are then packed in a special outdoor gas kiln and fired quickly (40-60 minutes) to 1000 degrees. They are them removed glowing hot from the kiln with metal tongs and plunged into metal buckets of sawdust. This reducing atmosphere brings out the metallic oxides from the glazes. They are then plunged into water buckets to fast cool and you then scrub them clean to reveal your beautiful treasures.

It’s an exciting and fascinating process all fire, smoke, water and steam and the results are unpredictable and awesome.

Please note: it’s a very smokey process and you will smell like a bonfire by the end of it so don’t wear your Sunday best.

Be warned - Raku is seriously addictive!!
